We’re here to support the work of the Muscular Dystrophy Association
When a Lynchburg Firefighter’s daughter was diagnosed at 6 months old with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) — a condition affecting the nerve cells that control voluntary muscle movement, little did she know her career and home life would share a passion for the same cause.
For decades Lynchburg Firefighters have been collecting money with their Fill The Boot campaign and spreading awareness for Muscular Dystrophy, long before it affected one of their own. When Tarrah and her daughter Kennedy became part of the LFD family, the mission hit closer to home. Now Tarrah’s mission is to lead the Lynchburg Fire Department’s committment by continuing to raise money and awareness for those living with neuromuscular diseases.
In 2022, LFD was successful in raising nearly $70,000 for Muscular Dystrophy. All proceeds go directly to the organization and help provide those living with neuromuscular diseases with opportunities for a more accessible life, as well as funding medical treatments and advancements towards a cure.
